Best scene in the whole movie.

Yeah, but they still *stole* Chekov's well earned property...

I know in canon the third glass is for Jim's dad, but knowing that this scene was added in honor of Anton in reshoots (if memory serves) just adds a whole 'nother level to it 😭

It's an inverse of their future conversation in "The Wrath of Khan" where Kirk is feeling old & useless & Bones laments about how they shouldn't be treating his birthday like a funeral & urges Kirk to get his command back. Here, the conversation is lighter, but the burden of command is starting to weigh on Kirk & having to deal with the immense shadow cast by his father as well as the fact that he is now a year older than this father, who will never get to celebrate another birthday ever again. In another foreshadowing of "The Wrath of Khan" Kirk is offered the rank of Admiral. It would have been better if the drink was Romulan Ale.

I believe this scene was shot after Anton's death and third glass a toast to Anton's "Chekov" character.

I watched Star Trek in 1966 at 16 years old. I respect all of the tv episodes and films. Everyone involved in any way gave the Star Trek vision their best. We are a species of story tellers. The journey will continue.

Proof only that the props department had access to the props department. The universe where Old Spock came from was established in the 2009 film to be one where the Dominion's long-range transporter technology was invented by Montgomery Scott, and not in any way by the Dominion. It was NEVER intended to be more than superficially similar to the universe in which the story took place to provide the circumstances for that photo to have become a prop the props department had access to.

In a way, this was Spock the character saying goodbye to the man who created him. At least thats how I saw it, because now through all these stories Leonard Nimoy's impact and influence can be imortal.

This touching moment is for us (mostly Baby Boomers) who were there when the original series began. The original cast was the heart and soul of Star Trek!

This series of movies deserved to keep going. Why this movie bombed is beyond me; it was really good and finally a step away from what came before. The whole point of the Kelvin timeline was to break away and tell new stories with the "old" crew.

0:03-0:07 Love this shot of the Enterprise at warp. This is actually my favourite warp effect out of the whole trilogy. It just looks the coolest and most realistic to me, that's all.

This is the best scene in all the reboot movies to me. It's one of the few scenes that feels like Star Trek.

I did like that this ST series was part of an altetnate timeline.

Bad re-boot of the franchise. Bad writing. Bad screenplay. I don't care if it's made for "modern audiences". It's NOT a very good movie. Mildly entertaining at best.

I honestly teared up at this moment. Seeing the old cast on the bridge of the Enterprise-A on the big screen just...it was a perfect moment. And a beautiful way to honor Trek's 50th anniversary, making sure they were all there.

0:32 - That photo, with that trill of Classic Trek music, brought a tear to my eye. Such sweet memories, of so many great adventures. Gone but never forgotten, RIP Leonard, James, DeForest, and Nichelle.

That photo was probably taken at the end of The Voyage Home after they had acquired the Enterprise-A. Just knowing Spock kept that picture with his old crew with him wherever he went, especially back in time to a new reality.

Kelvin movies are great! The casting all around was very good with incredible actors. Chris Pine is a terrific Kirk.

Besides being a tribute to Spock, this scene incorporates the entire original crew into the new universe and acknowledges their existence, since except for Spock, none of them were ever mentioned nor directly referenced to in this trilogy, which was and is one of things I didn't like about this trilogy as it basically only acknowledged the existence of Spock. Sadly, as of August 2023, four of the original 7, Magnificent Seven to me, are sadly not with us anymore - Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelly, James Doohan and Nichelle Nichols. Only William Shatner, George Takei and Walter Koenig remaining.

I don't know.....I get what this was trying to do....but using a press photo of the cast just made me cringe...like it took me out of the movie. But now with all these multiverse movies, combining various iterations of characters, maybe this isn't as cringe as I thought at the time. I've liked a lot about the new Trek cast in the films, but Beyond was just......a bit much. So violent, so depressing. I hope they can make at least one more film. It's still sorta in the works as far as I know, but maybe will just NOT come together.

It showed Kelvin Spock that the Crew of the Enterprise was a family in the Prime Timeline. That no matter how much time had passed and all the opportunities that he, McCoy and Kirk was always better together
